Chief Justice of Nigeria, Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, has ordered the Judicial Service Committee of the Federal Capital Territory to discipline an Upper Area Court Judge who issued direct criminal summons against former governor of Central Bank, Prof. Charles Soludo.
Soludo, who is the current governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Anambra State, was issued the criminal summons over perjury, corruption, false declaration of assets and alleged serial abuse of office and breach of Code of Conduct for public officers when he was governor of CBN between May 29th 2004 and May 29th 2009.

Hussein Baba Yusuf noted that the judge began to assume authority over a case that was completely outside his jurisdiction, according to the provisions of the 1999 constitution.
The Chief Justice who recalled that he had met with most chief judges across Nigeria and warned them of the danger of granting ex-parte injunctions vowed to use this case as an example to put an end to impunity and misconduct in the judiciary.
