Second Stanza Kickoff: NPFL Unveils Prostar Official Match Ball

Ahead of the second stanza 2024/25 season kickoff, the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has unveiled the Prostar match ball as the exclusive ball.

A circular issued by NPFL CEO Davidson Owumi to all club chairmen and general managers, indicates that only the official ball will be used in all matches, marking a new chapter in the league’s drive for excellence and professionalism.

The Nigerian topflight had used imported match balls before the partnership with the Nigerian brand, Prostar.

The Prostar match ball, which meets FIFA regulated international match standards, boasts of diamond-pattern soft-touch thermal bonded PU leather, a micro-shell coated butyl bladder, and 32 aerodynamic panels for unmatched precision and durability

Weighing 400-430 grams with a bounce range of 1.1-1.4 meters and an official size 5, the ball promises to deliver a world-class experience for players and fans alike.

“Based on the foregoing, you are to note that only the official balls should be used in all NPFL matches going forward in the second round of the future fixtures,” the statement read.

The second round of the current season is expected to resume by January 25.

Remo Stars currently hold the lead in the NPFL with 36 points after 19 games and they are followed in second place by Rivers United on 34 points while 3SC are third with 33 points.

The relegation fight is going to be fight to the finish with Nasarawa United (16), Akwa United (19), Lobi Stars (20) and Plateau United (20). It also not yet uhuru for teams like Sunshine Stars, Bendel Insurance and Heartland currently in the bottom half of the log.
