2024 Grammys: Davido Lost All Three Nominations

In a surprising turn of events at the 2024 Grammys Awards, first-time nominee Davido faced disappointment as he failed to secure victory in any of the three categories he was nominated for.

The acclaimed Nigerian artist had high hopes riding on his latest studio album, ‘Timeless,’ which earned him nominations in the coveted Global Music Album, Best Global Music Performance, and the newly introduced category of Best African Music Performance.

Davido’s career has seen the release of four impactful albums: ‘Omo Baba Olowo,’ ‘A Good Time,’ ‘A Better Time,’ and ‘Timeless.’ Despite his impressive musical journey, the Grammy Awards remained elusive for the artist. The Global Music Album category featured his album ‘Timeless,’ while ‘Feel’ competed for Best Global Music Performance.

Additionally, ‘Unavailable’ vied for the top spot in the newly introduced Best African Music Performance category, alongside entries from Tyla, Burna Boy, Olamide, Asake, and Ayra Starr.

However, the night ended with South African sensation Tyla clinching the award for Best African Performance, leaving Davido and other Nigerian nominees empty-handed. It is noteworthy that this marks the inaugural inclusion of the Best African Music Performance category in the Grammy Awards, highlighting the global recognition of African talent.
