There were unconfirmed reports suggesting that the politician who prides himself as a successful business man, is on the verge of securing a consensus from the Southeast region where he comes from, as the like of former President of the Senate Pius Anyim, former Chairman of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), among others are already in serious contention.
Also contesting for Nigeria’s Presidency on the platform of other political parties are former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Deputy Governor, Professor Kingsley Moghalu; former Imo governor and sitting Senator Rochas Okorocha, among others.
Obi’s visit to Obaseki comes barely one week after other PDP aspirants from the North, Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal and immediate past President of the Senate and former governor of Kwara State Olusola Saraki visited Edo State Government House on the same mission.
