2023: Atiku, Okowa Move To Enlist Jonathan’s Support

Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa have visited the former president, Goodluck Jonathan.

The duo visited Jonathan in his Abuja residence on Thursday night in a move to draw his support for their presidential bid.

In a tweet, both Atiku and Okowa expressed their delight about the visit.

“Last night, I led a delegation alongside my Vice Presidential candidate, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, @IAOkowa, on a courtesy visit to former President Goodluck Jonathan, @GEJonathan, at his residence in Abuja,” At tweeted.

Okowa said they discussed with former president Jonathan, their plans on how to recover Nigeria.

Both Atiku and Okowa, however, did not share details of the discussion with Jonathan.

“Last night, alongside our Presidential Candidate, Alhaji @Atiku Abubakar, we had a great meeting with our former President, H.E. @GEJonathan. There, we discussed our plans to #RecoverNigeria with His Excellency,” Okowa tweeted.

Jonathan had, reportedly, played host to the Delta State Governor and some other chieftains of the PDP in October, where he declared Okowa as the incoming Vice President of Nigeria.

At the meeting, the former president held Okowa’s hand and was quoted to have said: “Our incoming vice-president, he has served two tenures as a governor.”

As campaign activities gain momentum, the PDP presidential flag bearer and his running mate have visited different groups and political leaders across the country to ventilate their plans on addressing issues affecting the citizens as the elections draw closer.

Atiku was at the Lagos Business School on Tuesday where he gave insights into his policy proposals about tackling the power sector challenge, education funding and enlisting private sector participation to boost the economy.
