13th African Games Update: Team Nigeria’s Enekwechi, Olajide, Itsekiri Win Medals

Nigeria’s Chukwuebuka Enekwechi on Tuesday night led the cast of Nigerian athletes that won a few more medals as the country continues its fine run at the 13th African Games holding in Ghana, Prime Business Africa reports

Enekwechi, who won gold also in the last African Games hosted by Morocco in 2019, on Tuesday executed a 21. 06 metres throw to ensure Nigeria’s national anthem was sung at the podium.

In the track and field events, Olayinka Olajide won bronze in the women’s 100m final in the track and field event while Usheorite Itsekiri claimed silver in the men’s 100m final with a time of 10.23 seconds.

Fellow Nigerian, Consider Ekanem finished in fourth place and outside the medal zone with a time of 10. 42 seconds.

Africa and world hurdle record holder Tobi Amusan qualified for the final of the women’s hurdle event as she won the semifinals race on Tuesday night with a 13.03 seconds finish.
