Nigeria’s representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup Rivers United claimed a hard-earned 1-0 victory against Club Africain of Tunisia in the Group C of the second-tier CAF interclub competition at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Sunday evening.

Nyima Nwagua scored the only goal of the game five minutes before the break to hand Stanley Eguma’s side all three points in the game.

Rivers United remain in second position in the group with six points from three games.

The Port Harcourt side have same points with first and third placed Club Africain and Dreams FC of Ghana respectively, while Academica from Angola remain at the bottom of the log with no point.

Rivers United are now the third Nigerian club after BCC Lions (1990) & Enyimba (2008) to defeat Club Africain on the continent.

The Nigerian side will now travel to Tunisia to lock horns with Club Africain again in the reverse matchday four contest on Wednesday, December 20.

Angola’s Academica do Lobito are up against Dreams FC of Ghana in the other group game.
