Youths Threaten To Disrupt Further Elections In Medina, Ogun State

Some youths in the Medina area of Agbara-Lusada road in Ado-Odo Local Government Area of Ogun State, on Saturday night, vowed to further disrupt any repeat of elections held in polling units in that area, Prime Business Africa gathered.

A source who spoke on the condition of anonymity revealed that the youths, consisting mainly of young men in their early 20s and 30s had disrupted proceedings earlier in the day.

The youths, Prime Business Africa scooped, were supporting a particular party and were aware that majority of other young voters were keen to vote for a rival party seemingly gaining the trust of Nigerians.

With the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to extend the elections until Sunday after disruptions and perceived issues with election materials experienced on Saturday in parts of the country, there are still dissenting voices who are believed to be working against the emergence of rival candidates in the polls.

“There were issues with election materials at Polling units 14 and 21 at Medina. But that’s not all. We saw youths who threatened to disrupt any elections held there again.

“They gathered and caused disruption to the voting exercise on Saturday. The agents were not enough. The police were sent there.

“The boys threatened on Saturday to make things difficult for voters because they know which candidate most people are rooting for,” the source further told Prime Business Africa.

In most of the polling units monitored by Prime Business Africa in the Agbara community, the Labour Party were generally declared winners of the elections on Saturday.
