The youths numbering over 200 who blocked the roads, preventing motorists from plying it were also displaying placards with different inscriptions calling for justice for Dike .
According to them, the victim, who hailed from Isiekenesi in Ideato-South council area of the state is an only son and father of four children.
They disclosed that the incident happened last Wednesday night at a popular joint known as Emma Ocha’s bear parlour situated in Urualla, a nearby community.
The youths who decried the unprofessional conduct of the police officer, called for his immediate arrest and prosecution,insisting that the victim could have bled to death if not for the timely intervention of some spirited individuals, who helped to rush him to a nearby hospital.
“We are here to seek justice for our brother, Emeka Dike who was shot by a Ideato Division DPO last Wednesday night. We are worried that ever since this happened, nothing has been heard or done about the reckless action of the police officer.
“So we are by this protest calling on the relevant authorities to ensure that justice is gotten for our brother who is still battling for his life at the hospital.” Obiekwe said.
When contacted, the State police command spokesman, CSP Michael Abattam confirmed the incident.
He disclosed that the Police Commissioner, CP Mohammed Ahmed Barde, has directed the command to commenced immediate investigation on the matter.
