Workers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport seized passengers luggage in protest of unpaid salary on Monday. The situation led to chaos within the airport located in Lagos State.
In a viral video seen on social media platform, Twitter, there was disagreement between the passengers and the airport workers, who said they are protesting six months unpaid salary by the Federal Government.
The passengers could be seen waiting at the baggage reclaim area to retrieve their belongings after arriving at the airport, but the workers resisted attempts to collect their luggage. The event reportedly occurred in the early hours of Monday.
Airport staff were telling the passengers, mostly Nigerians, to get back, as they moved closer. The passengers were told they won’t receive their luggage if the protest is filmed. But the threat didn’t stop the incident from being videotaped.
The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) is yet to react to the situation as at the time of filing this report. The video of the incident emerged this evening, but the chaos happened in the morning.
