This was announced during the closing ceremony of the 26th NUGA Games hosted by the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos State.
The outgone NUGA President, Prof. Stephen Hamafyelto stated that the University of Jos defeated the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and the University of Calabar, Cross River State to win the hosting rights.
Speaking after receiving the NUGA flag, the Vice-Chancellor, UniJos, Prof. Tanko Ishaya applauded the NUG Council for giving UniJos the right to stage the next collegiate sporting showpiece, saying that the University would provide world-class facilities for the games on the schedule that the athletes and officials would be proud of.
Equally important, the Vice-Chancellor commended the Pro-Chancellor of the University, Professor Attahiru Jega for giving the institution all the necessary support needed to bid and win the right to stage the event.
Prof. Ishaya promised that UniJos would stage the best NUGA games that would go down in history by surpassing the high standard set by the host of the 26th edition of the games, the University of Lagos, Akoka.
He assured the NUGA Council and officials that the University and the State government would work assiduously to ensure the safety of lives and property during the event.
It will be recalled that UniJos competed for the 26th edition of the NUGA Games in 2017 but lost to the University of Lagos, Akoka. This will be the first time that the University of Jos will host the NUGA games.
