UCL: De Bruyne, Silva, Foden Shine As Man City Beats Copenhagen In Round of 16 Tie

European champions Manchester City continued the defence of their title Tuesday night with a comfortable 3-1 away win over Danish side Copenhagen in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 fixtures.

Kevin de Bruyne put the City side ahead early in the game as he was teed up by Phil Foden.

Copenhagen who also met Pep Guardiola’s men in the group stages however restored parity when Ederson gifted the ball to them with a poor clearance and Magnus Matt’s son pounced to finish with a delightful strike.

Bernardo Silva restored City’s lead just before the half time break with a cheeky dink as he profited from a deflected ball that came through De Bruyne.

Foden then put the icing on the cake with a late goal albeit they could have scored a lot more as the duo of De Bruyne and Erling Haaland were guilty of missing glit-edge chances.

Manchester City will host Copenhagen in the second leg on Wednesday, 6 March at the Etihad stadium.

City won the title for the first time last season after defeating Inter Milan in the final.
