UCL: Chelsea Handed Real Madrid Hurdle, Man City Drawn Against Bayern Munich

The UEFA Champions League quarterfinals draw was held on Friday afternoon in Nyon, Switzerland with some interesting fixtures on the horizon as English and Italian clubs face each other.

First round fixtures in the last eight of the top European competition will hold on April 11 and 12 with the second leg fixtures set for a week later.

Chelsea will face holders Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League while Napoli will play against AC Milan.

Graham Potter’s side saw off Borussia Dortmund to reach the last eight, while Madrid – managed by former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti – beat Liverpool.

Manchester City, who are unbeaten in this season’s competition, were drawn against manager Pep Guardiola’s former club Bayern Munich.

If both Chelsea and City progress, they will meet in the semi-final – a repeat of the 2021 final which Chelsea won 1-0.

The rest of the draw sees Benfica face Inter Milan, two teams who managed to get to the next stage of the competition by the skin of their teeth.

European heavyweights, Liverpool and PSG, were knocked out of the round of 16 by Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

The final of the 2003 UEFA Champions League will hold in Istanbul, Turkey on Saturday, June 10.
