U-20 AFCON: CAF Appoints DR Congo’s Referee For Nigeria Versus Madagascar Clash

The Democratic Republic of Congo’s referee, Yannick Malala Kabanga has been appointed by the Confederaton of African Football (CAF) to officiate Nigeria’s last Group A match of the 2023 CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt against Madagascar, reports Prime Business Africa.

The Group A game which the Nigerians are mandated to win, or at least secure a draw in order to stand the chance of reaching the quarterfinals stage, is billed for the Suez Canal Stadium, Ismailia.

Kabanga will be assisted by Styven Moutsassi Moyo from the Republic of Congo (assistant referee 1), Pascal Ndimunzigo from Burundi (assistant referee 2) and Moroccan Jalal Jayed, who will serve as the fourth official.

Zambia’s Justin Mumba will serve as the match commissioner, while Beninoise Rosalie N’dah will be the referee assessor.

The Flying Eagles defeated hosts Egypt 1-0 in their second game in the competition on Wednesday.

Ladan Bosso’s side occupies the second position in the group with three points from two games.

Four teams that advance to the semifinals will represent Africa at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia.

Nigeria are seven-time champions of the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations previously known as the African Youth Championship.

Saturday’s match between Nigeria and Madagascar kicks off at 6pm Nigerian time.

He has been part of cast in some Nollywood movies and radio dramas including Blood Money 2, Scores To Settle, Dead End 2, Another Campus Tale and Battle Line. Aside mainstream media and the entertainment industry, he has interests in scouting/unearthing of talents in the sports and creative sectors, exports business and property development.
