Tinubu: I’m Back, Ready To Work After May 29 Inauguration

Nigeria’s President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has expressed readiness to start work immediately after inauguration on May 29.

Tinubu stated this when he return to the country on Monday evening from France after spending four weeks on vacation.

He was received alongside his wife Senator Oluremi Tinubu, by the vice president-elect, Kashim Shettima; Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; among other top members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a crowd of associates, at the Presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

Prime Business Africa had reported that Tinubu is expected back to the country on Monday.

The former Lagos State Governor, who travelled to Paris, France on 21st March, was said to have gone to rest after the campaign activities towards the general elections.

He countered rumours that he was ill, saying he is back, strong and ready to work.

“I am extremely excited to be back home and deeply humbled by the warm welcome I received on my return to Abuja today.

“Thank you all for your love and support. Our promise to deliver a nation of Renewed Hope for all Nigerians remains in motion,” Tinubu stated while addressing the crowd of supporters that cheered him on arrival.

Observers said that the return of the President-elect, would spark a lot of political activities such as lobbying for various appointments.

Key among the issues at stake is reaching a decision on the leadership of the 10th National Assembly and the determination of choice of nominees who would form the cabinet of the incoming government.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had on March 1, 2023, declared Tinubu as President-elect after being announced as winner of the highest votes in the 25th February election.

However, his victory is currently being challenged at the tribunal by two presidential candidates of – the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
