Tinubu Approves Nomination Of Cardoso As CBN Governor, 4 Deputies

President Bola Tinubu has approved the nomination of Dr. Olayemi Cardoso as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and four others.

The appointment, subject to confirmation by the Senate, marks a significant development in Nigeria’s economic landscape.

Announcing the nomination, President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, cited the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007, which empowers the President to appoint the Governor and Deputy Governors of the apex Bank, subject to Senate confirmation.

According to the President, “Dr. Olayemi Cardoso brings a wealth of experience and a commitment to our nation’s economic stability. His nomination reflects our vision for a resilient and prosperous financial sector.”

President Tinubu also nominated four candidates for the position of Deputy Governor at the Central Bank. They are Mrs Emem Usoro, Mr Muhammad Dattijo, Mr Philip Ikeazor, and Dr Bala M. Bello. They would if confirmed, play pivotal roles in shaping the country’s monetary policy.

“We believe that these nominees possess the skills and expertise necessary to navigate the complex financial challenges facing our nation,” Tinubu stated.

As Nigeria awaits the Senate’s confirmation of these appointments, the nation’s financial future is poised for a potential transformation under the leadership of Dr. Olayemi Cardoso and his team.
