The Super Eagles Star Likely To Make Deadline Day Move Before Transfer Window Shuts

The January transfer window deadline is almost upon us and there are deals already wrapped up on Tuesday with the curtain coming down at 11 pm.

Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi has already signed for OGC Nice with a mandatory option for the deal to be made permanent.

Moffi has been handed the number 9 jersey.

However, we anticipate at least one more move regarding a Nigerian striker.

Although late deals have not been concluded on time already in motion and can be done early Wednesday morning with the Premier League deal sheets.

Premier League strugglers, Southampton will be hard pressed to possibly get one over the line.

Reports in some of the Southampton-related media outfits reveal that Super Eagles striker, Paul Onuachu could be on the books of the Saints.

Southampton is pushing for Genk to sign for Paul Onuachu. Talks are currently ongoing between the two clubs.

Currently, the 28-year-old Nigerian has scored 16 goals in 19 appearances this season.

Last season (2021/2022) he scored 21 goals in the Belgian league in 35 matches.

Southampton has produced great players either from their well-known academy system or through shrewd businesses from other clubs.

Great examples are Senegal’s Sadio Mane and former England international, Theo Walcott.

Southampton has not been as good as they were many seasons ago when they had a legend of the Premier League, Matt Le Tissier.

The club could lose Che Adams who has been linked with another club which explains why they are going for the Nigerian who has not really impressed in the national team as much as he took the Belgian top-flight by storm.

What would Onuachu bring to Southampton?

Onuachu will bring goals obviously as he will work with players who play consistently together unlike the national team where they assemble for a few days before crucial games.

Onuachu is a languid striker and his aerial prowess will ensure that he puts away crosses from the forwards from both wings.

On the downside, the Super Eagles Star is not blessed with enormous pace so he is expected to be a fox in the box and not a striker that will play across the three attacking positions.
