The Black Galaxies of Ghana on Saturday evening qualified for the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) holding in Algeria next year at the expense of Nigeria’s Super Eagles Team B after a 5-4 win on penalties reports Prime Business Africa.
The Eagles were the dominant team in the first half but their many efforts were repelled either by the excellent defensive play of the guests or the frame of the post.
The Eagles had lost 2-0 in the first leg of the fixtures last week at the Cape Coast stadium but responded positively in the return leg at the Moshood Abiola stadium, Abuja scoring through Zilkifilu Mohammed and Chijioke Akuneto in 90 minutes to make it 2-2 on aggregate.
The game went into penalty shoouots but the Ghanaians prevailed in the ensuing kicks 5-4 to deny Super Eagles the chance to participate at the tournament for the second consecutive time of asking.
