Stop Senseless Killings in Katsina, Masari Warns Customs

THE Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Masari, has asked officers of the Nigeria Customs Service (NSC) to put an end to senseless killings in the state.

Masari stated this while condemning the killing of six persons through reckless driving by officials of the NCS in the state.

In a statement by Abdu Labaran, spokesman to the state government, the governor extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and those who sustained injuries.

He warning that the government would no longer fold its arms and watch law abiding citizens killed by government agents who are supposed to be protecting them.

The governor’s warning came in the wake of the recent death of six people, who were killed by operatives of the NCS while chasing suspected smugglers in Jibia town.

“The state government is considering legal action against the NCS to serve as a deterrent against future occurrence of the fatal incident” Masari said.

Prime Business Africa had earlier reported that the Comptroller-General of the NCS, Hameed Ali, had ordered an investigation into the incident that led to the death of six people in Jibia town.
