Stock Roundup: Prestige Lead Gainers, Japaul Gold Top Losers, As Investment Falls To N12.22bn

Investors exchanged 823.005 million shares in 17,482 deals, worth N12.228 billion this week, in contrast to the N13.547 billion they parted with last week to trade 1.511 billion shares in 20,074 deals.

Top three sectors

By measure of volume, the Financial Services Industry led the top performing sector with 561.683 million shares valued at N5.576 billion traded in 8,388 deals.

Next was the ICT Industry, which recorded 91.819 million shares worth N1.478 billion, traded on its floor in 1,532 deals.

The Consumer Goods Industry reported traders exchanged 42.546 million shares worth N3.396 billion in 2,639 deals.

Top three equities

FBN Holdings Plc, E-Tranzact International Plc and United Bank for Africa Plc are the top three performing equities by measure of volume, as investors traded over 323.474 million shares worth N2.520 billion in 1,457 deals on their floor.

Accordiing to data obtained from the Nigerian Exchange Limited, the three companies accounted for 39.30% and 20.61% of the total equity turnover volume and value respectively.

Top five gainers

  • Prestige gained 18.18 percent, after its stock price appreciated from N0.44kobo to N0.52kobo per share.
  • Neimeth reported an uptick of N0.13kobo, as its share rose from N1.40kobo to N1.53kobo per share.
  • Sovereign Insurance share went up by 8 percent, rising to N0.27kobo from N0.25kobo per share.
  • Redstar Express saw its share price gain N0.15kobo, increasing to N2.70kobo from N2.55kobo per share.
  • Unity Bank recorded an appreciation of 4.65 percent, after the share went from N0.43kobo to N0.45kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • Japaul Gold share depreciated by 23.68 percent, dwindling from N0.38kobo to N0.29kobo per share.
  • Courtville share dropped in value by N0.12kobo, to settle at N0.44kobo from N0.56kobo per share.
  • University Press followed the same path, losing N0.40kobo after the week’s trading hours, to sell at N1.72kobo from N2.12kobo per share.
  • PZ Cussons reported a decline of N1.75kobo in its share, depreciating from N10.25kobo to N8.50kobo per share.
  • Honeywell Flour share lost N0.41kobo from its opening of N2.83kobo, dropping to N2.42kobo per share.
