Stock Market Investors Pocket N69.33 billion Amid Demands For Mansard, Japaul Gold

Investors in the stock market went home with a N69.33 billion gain on Wednesday, 8 February 2023, as the equity capitalisation closed with N29.64 trillion.

This means the market capitalisation rose by 0.23 per cent from Tuesday’s N29.57 trillion.

The All-Share Index increased to 54,427.05 ASI from 54,299.76, after gaining 127.29 basis points. 

Over 151.58 million shares exchanged hands in 2,974 deals valued at N1.81 billion on Wednesday. 

This contrasted the 200.03 million shares, worth N7.62 billion, that were traded in 4,380 deals on Tuesday. 

Top five gainers 

  • Tripples Gee’s share appreciated by N0.10kobo to rise from N1.05 to N1.15kobo per share 
  • International Energy Insurance grew by N0.11kobo, up from N1.17kobo to N1.28kobo per share 
  • Japaul Gold ended trading with N0.30kobo from N0.29kobo per share, rising by 3.45 per cent. 
  • Mansard gained 2.50 per cent to end trading at N2.05, having opened with N2 per share. 
  • Africa Prudential stock was up by N0.15kobo, closing with N6.25kobo from N6.10kobo per share

Top five losers  

  • TransExpress depreciated by 9.76 per cent, dwindling from N0.82kobo to N0.74kobo per share. 
  • Transcorp also fell by N0.10kobo to end trading at N1.26kobo, after opening with N1.36kobo per share.
  • Courtville followed the same path, losing 6 per cent after trading hours, to sell at N0.47kobo from N0.50kobo per share. 
  • Prestige reported a decline of 4.76 per cent from the previous day’s share price of N0.42kobo to end trading at N0.40kobo per share. 
  • UPDC REIT share depreciated to N3.25kobo from N3.40kobo, after losing N0.15kobo during trading hours.  

Top five trading equities in the stock exchange

  • Universal Insurance reported 20.03 million shares valued at N4 million were traded on its floor   
  • Transcorp recorded 18.68 million shares valued at N24.61 million 
  • GTCO saw investors trade 17.02 million of its shares valued at N427.73 million 
  • Sterling Bank recorded 15.62 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N23.90 million 
  • UBA reported 7.73 million shares, valued at N64.68 million, exchanged investors’ hands
