Stock Market Investors Lose N430.10bn To Selloffs In Sunu, Cornerstone, Others

Over N430.10 billion was lost in the Nigerian stock market on Thursday, as the equity capitalisation fell from N32.66 trillion to N32.23 trillion.

Also, the All-Share Index dropped to 59,195.21 ASI, losing 789.89 basis points from 59,985.1 points reported the preceding day.

Traders on the exchange floor parted with N15.35 billion to trade 1.17 billion shares on Thursday, in 12,611 deals. 

Investors had exchanged 1.29 billion shares, worth N21.08 billion, in 11,947 deals, the previous day. 

Top five gainers

  • MRS’ share appreciated by N6.25 kobo to rise from N62.50 kobo to N68.75 kobo per share.
  • Transcorp Hotel grew by N1.21 kobo, up from N12.10 kobo to N13.31 kobo per share.
  • Total ended trading with N336.70 kobo from N306.10 kobo per share, rising by N30.60 kobo.
  • Ikeja Hotel gained N0.30 kobo to end trading at N3.31 kobo, having opened with N3.01 per share.
  • ETranzact’s stock was up by N0.48 kobo, closing at N5.32 kobo from N4.84 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • Sunu Assurance depreciated by 10 per cent, dwindling from N0.50 kobo to N0.45 kobo per share.
  • Cornerstone also fell by N0.11 kobo to end trading at N1.02, after opening at N1.13 kobo per share.
  • McNichols followed the same path, losing 9.33 per cent after trading hours, to sell at N0.68 kobo from N0.75 kobo per share.
  • Access Corporation reported a decline of N1.45 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N15.70 kobo to end trading at N14.25 kobo per share.
  • RT Briscoe’s share depreciated to N0.31 kobo from N0.34 kobo, after losing 8.82 per cent during trading hours. 

Top five trading equities in the stock exchange

  • UBA reported 192.83 million shares, valued at N2.34 billion, were traded on its floor.
  • Access Corporation recorded 121.53 million shares valued at N1.96 billion.
  • Fidelity Bank saw investors trade 102.63 million shares valued at N726.74 million.
  • GTCO recorded 99.84 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N3.32 billion.
  • Sterling Financial Holdings reported 79.27 million shares, valued at N238.31 million, exchanged investors’ hands.
