Stock Market Cap Closes At N29.915 trillion, As Bourse Trades Sideways

Nigerian bourse’s capitalisation ended trading on Friday at N29.915 trillion after recording sideways market for some days.

The All-Share Index lost 0.22 basis points to close at 54,915.39 ASI, slightly below the 54,915.61 ASI posted a day before when the equity cap also closed at N29.915 trillion.

According to market data, investors exchanged N1.56 billion on Friday for 156.97 million shares traded in 2,952 deals on the trading floor today.

This contrasted with the 137.28 million shares, worth N1.50 billion, that were traded on Thursday in 3,489 deals.

Top five gainers 

  • United Capital’s share appreciated by N1.10kobo to rise from N11.10kobo to N12.20kobo per share
  • Prestige grew by 9.76 per cent, up from N0.41kobo to N0.45kobo per share
  • Royal Exchange ended trading with N0.72kobo from N0.67kobo per share, rising by 7.46 per cent.
  • Livestock gained 6.86 per cent to end trading at N1.09, having opened with N1.02 per share.
  • RT Briscoe’s stock was up by 4.17 per cent, closing at N0.25kobo from N0.24kobo per share

Top five losers 

  • Multiverse depreciated by N0.38kobo, dwindling from N3.83kobo to N3.45kobo per share.
  • Veritas Kapital also fell by 4.76 per cent to end trading at N0.20kobo, after opening with N0.21kobo per share.
  • Chams followed the same path, losing 4 per cent after trading hours, to sell at N0.24kobo from N0.25kobo per share.
  • Access Corp reported a decline of 2.33 per cent from the previous day’s share price of N8.60kobo to end trading at N8.40kobo per share.
  • Sterling Bank’s share depreciated to N1.51kobo from N1.54kobo, after losing 1.95 per cent during trading hours.

Top five trading equities in the stock exchange 

  • Capital Hotel reported 36.43 million shares valued at N91.07 million were traded on its floor
  • UBA recorded 17.90 million shares valued at N145.27 million
  • Access Corp saw investors trade 14.66 million of its shares valued at N125.87 million
  • Fidelity Bank recorded 10.26 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N52.61 million
  • AIICO reported 10.12 million shares, valued at N5.78 million, exchanged investors’ hands
