South Africa’s local media are reporting today (Monday, 13th December 2021) that President Cyril Ramaphosa has contracted the dreaded Coronavirus.
Ramaphosa who was in Abuja, Nigeria on December 1, 2021, the information stated exhibited mild symptoms on Sunday, December 12 after leaving a memorial service for FW de Clerk, the former South African deputy president in Cape Town.
Local news platform reported that Cyril Ramaphosa felt unwell and was exhibiting mild symptoms on Sunday December 12, after leaving a memorial service for FW de Klerk, the former South African deputy president, in Cape Town.
Ramaphosa according to the media is “in good spirits as he is being monitored by doctors.”
The statement from the presidency added; “Vaccination remains the best protection against severe illness and hospitalisation.
“People who have had contact with the president today are advised to watch for symptoms or to have themselves tested.”
The South African leader is fully vaccinated but would still be made to isolate. He has handed over the reins of the government to his deputy, David Mabuza.
