Some shops and buildings around the popular Owode Onirin market along Ikorodu road have been razed down by fire on Wednesday.
Traders of the Owode Onirin market made frantic efforts to combat the fire that razed down some shops and buildings in the market this morning but their efforts were futile.
The fire, according to eyewitnesses, started around 9am on Wednesday, razing down several shops.
Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the state Fire Service, Mr. Sakiru Amodu, said all efforts are in gear to keep the fire under control.
The cause of the fire outbreak could not be ascertained as of press time.
The building disaster comes on the heels of similar building collapses witnessed in Lagos in the last 24 hours.
Lagosians are still in shock over the 21 storey building that collapsed in Ikoyi on Monday and another two-storey building that fell on Tuesday in the Lekki area of Lagos state.
