Investors Record N61.81 billion Capital Market Loss; ‘Sell’ Pressure In Nigerian Breweries, Union Bank

On Tuesday, the market capitalisation closed at N25.77 trillion, depreciating from previous day’s N25.83 trillion. As a result, N61.81 billion capital market loss that took big chunk off the total investments held by shareholders in the Nigerian stock market .

Similarly, the All-Share Index shed more weight, losing 113.48 basis points, from the 47,436.45 ASI of Monday to 47,322.97 ASI.

However, the value of traded shares rose slightly to N1.64 billion on Tuesday, after 120.94 million shares were traded in 3,022 deals. This was below the 126.56 million shares exchanged in 3,781 deals worth N1.56 billion on Monday.

Top five gainers

Chams share appreciated by 9.09 per cent to rise from N0.22kobo to N0.24kobo per share.

Wapic grew by 6.06 per cent, up from N0.33kobo to N0.35kobo per share.

NPF Microfinance ended trading with N1.58kobo from N1.50kobo per share, rising by 5.33 per cent.

Jaiz Bank gained 3.66 per cent to end trading at N0.85kobo, having opened with N0.82kobo.

FCMB stock was up by N0.10kobo closing with N3.35kobo from N3.25kobo per share.

Top 5 in capital market loss

Neimeth depreciated by N0.11kobo, dwindling from N1.38kobo to N1.27kobo per share.

Nigerian Breweries also fell by N3.75kobo per cent to end trading at N45.20kobo, after opening with N48.95kobo per share.

Caverton followed the same path, losing 5.68 per cent after trading hours, to sell at N0.83kobo from N0.88kobo per share.

Ecobank reported a decline of N0.55kobo per cent from previous day’s share price of N10.65kobo to end trading at N10.10kobo per share.

Union Bank share depreciated to N6.25kobo from N6.55kobo, after losing N0.30kobo during trading hours.

Top five trading equities in stock exchange

Transcorp reported 34.58 million shares valued at N40.47 million were traded on its floor.

Access Corp recorded 11.17 million shares valued at N94.91 million.

Zenith Bank saw investors trade 9.33 million of its shares valued at N202.52 million.

FBN Holdings recorded 8.73 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N96.61 million.

GTCO reported 8.49 million shares valued at N169.37 million exchanged investors’ hands.
