Reactions Trail Maina Son’s Conviction

THE conviction and sentencing of Faisal Maina, by the federal high court in abuja, to 14 years imprisonment has started generating reactions.

Prime Business Africa in a chat with a Public Policy Analyst and Commentator, Alesta Wilcox, gathered that the conviction is a step in the right direction.

Alesta said “Faisal Maina is just an ordinary citizen of the country and people should not attach sentiment to his being sentenced to 14 years jail term on count 2 of the charges preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and 5years on count 1 and 3 respectively.

He said ” if not that Maina made himself a high profile case because of the humongous amount of money involved in his fraud case, nobody would have been bothered about his son bagging a 14 years jail term.

Nigerians however, expect that more of this will happen, but then it is hoped that the judgment will stand because certainly he has the right of appeal, up to the supreme court.

“I hope that at the end of the day, this judgment will stand and not be upturned at the appeal or supreme court level.

“So it is a welcomed development at least it is clear that justice is being served on those who have cornered our common wealth.

Alesta said “I commend the judge, prosecutor and everyone that is involved because justice is actually being served.
