Quadri Wins Man Of The Match Award In Last Game For German Team

Nigerian table tennis sensation and Olympian, Aruna Quadri, was handed ‘the Man of the Match’ award as his contract with German team, TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell,ended on the back of their 3-2 win over Mainz on Friday.

The world number 14 won the last game for his club to cap off his two and a half-year stint with the Bundesliga side.

The German club celebrated the Nigerian on their Instagram page, expressing gratitude to him and wishing him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

The statement read:

“Man of the match, Quadri Aruna. After a long and exciting game, we win the basement duel against Mainz 3-2.

“Quadri Aruna showed his skills again in his last game in the Bundesliga, winning two points. We would like to thank Quadri Aruna for his time at the TTC and wish him all the best for the future.”

Quadri, who competed for Nigeria at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics, reaching the quarterfinals in the latter competition, also took to the social media platform to pen a long goodbye message to the club, stressing how well his game improved since joining them two and a half years ago and adding that it had always been his dream to play in the Bundesliga.

Quadri stated: “While growing up, my dream was to play in the Bundesliga table tennis, and thanks to TTCRhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell for making it possible.

”We always played together as one family; we won and lost together, and this made me feel totally at home.

“Playing in the Bundesliga improved my game, and I enjoyed several great moments in international tournaments.

“While playing in the Bundesliga, I achieved my highest ranking.I am very happy that we both achieved a play-off in the league and a semi-final in the German Cup together, and this memory will last forever.

“Thank you so much for the opportunity you gave me for two and a half years, and thank you for making my transfer possible.Thanks to the amazing spectators for their support always. I wish the team good luck in the future.”
