Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri on Thursday got eliminated from the 2022 World Table Tennis Championship which began in Macao, China 24 hours earlier reports Prime Business Africa.
Aruna faced Swedish tennis star Anton Kallberg, who is ranked lower than the Nigerian international, according to the draw that was made public on Tuesday.
The Swedish superstar defeated Aruna in a straight set, hence the player’s ranking had no bearing on the outcome of the match.
Kallberg dominated the match and won 3-0 (11-8, 11-9, 11-9) to dash Aruna’s chances of progressing past the round of 32 of the competition.
Quadri has represented Nigeria at the Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games and could call time on his illustrious career after the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France.
