Anambra State governor-elect, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has appointed Nigeria’s former Minister of Education, Dr Obiageli Ezekwesili to head his transition committee in charge of planning the handover ceremony to be held in March 2022.
Prof. Soludo, a renowned economist and former CBN governor was the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and won the November 6, 2021 governorship election in the state.
He was declared the winner of the election after his victory in 19 out of the 21 Local Government Areas in the state.
According to some sources, the inauguration of the transition committee will take place on January 20, at Agulu Lake (Golden Tulip) Hotel in Anambra.
Though the governor-elect is yet to make a formal announcement on the transition, he had during an interview with Arise Tv, shortly after winning the election, said the swearing-in ceremony would take place in March.
The former minister is expected to design the transition programme to ensure a successful handover to Soludo by Obiano.
Dr Ezekwesili, who is a former presidential candidate in the 2019 general election is also a world renowned social activitist who led the #BringBackOurGirls campaign when 276 female students were kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists in Chibok town of Borno State in April 2014.
