Prince Charles Takes Over As King Of Britain

Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday at the age of 96, Charles, the Prince of Whales has become the new King of Britain.

Prince Charles 73, is the eldest of the four sons of Queen Elizabeth and the longest-serving Prince of Wales, a title he held from June 1958 to 2022.

The queen’s death came after the palace announced on Thursday that doctors were “concerned” about her health.

All her children — Charles, Princess Anne, 72, Prince Andrew, 62, and Prince Edward, 58, moved to her Scottish Highland retreat, Balmoral.

They were joined by Charles’s sons, Prince William, and his estranged brother Prince Harry.

A statement from the Royal Family’s official Twitter handle says “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”

Born November 14, 1948, Charles was heir apparent as well as Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay from 1952 till Thursday, September 8, 2022, when the Queen passed on.

He got married in 1981 to Lady Diana Spencer, with whom he had two sons: Prince William and Prince Harry. In 1996, the couple divorced following well-publicised extramarital affairs by both parties.
