The People Democratic Party (PDP) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to order the Inspector General of Police to investigate and possibly extradite, DCP Abba Kyari to the United States for his alleged involvement with fraud suspect, Abbas Ramon, popularly known as Hushpuppi.
Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) made this statement in Abuja while reacting to the allegations of corruption and complicity, levelled against Kyari.
“Kyari’s alleged involvement with a known fraudster compromises his integrity as the head of Nigeria’s Intelligence Response Unit.
“Given the manifest rapport between Kyari and some top AOC leaders, we demands that the matter should be given due diligence and not swept under the carpet by this APC administration.
“We urge President Muhammadu Buhari to restore Nigeria’s integrity and image by allowing for a swift forensic investigation on the suspect and not to ease out this case of corruption. Moreover, if this Kyari matter is not well handled, it will be a permanent stain on the reputation of our police, security system and our nation at large.
“The PDP, therefore, asks President Buhari to direct the Inspector General of Police to take in Abba Kyari for questioning and if found culpable, he should be handed over to the FBI,” Ologbondiyan said in a statement.
Prime business Africa reported that U.S Court documents revealed that popular fraudster, Hushpuppi made arrangement with Police Commissioner Abba Kyari to have a former business partner, Kelly Chibuzo Vincent arrested after they scammed a Qatari businessman of $1 million.
Kyari had since denied the allegation, saying that he never collected any money from Hushpuppi.
