Ozigbo Denies Involvement In Any Court Action Against Soludo’s Governorship Victory

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the November 2021 election, Mr Valentine Ozigbo has debunked rumours circulating especially on social media that he has filed an action at the Court of Appeal to challenge the judgement on the validity of Prof Chukwuma Soludo’s candidature in the polls.

In a statement issued on Tuesday December 14 2021, by Tony Ezike the deputy director, State PDP Governorship Campaign Council 2021, Ozigbo said he is neither directly nor indirectly involved in any suit about Anambra guubernatorial election of November 2021.

The statement reads, “Our attention has been drawn to some fake news being peddled by activists of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) falsely declaring that Nigerian business mogul and governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 2021 election, Mr Valentine Ozigbo has filed a matter in the Court of Appeal for leave to appeal against the judgment of Honourable Justice Taiwo Taiwo, a suit which challenged the validity of Prof Chukwuma Soludo’s candidature.

“This is to notify the general public that Mr Valentine Ozigbo, a sound gentleman and one of Nigeria’s most respected business leaders, has not filed any matter directly or indirectly on the just concluded Anambra gubernatorial election in any court or Election Tribunal.

“The development that is creating panic in the APGA social media community is that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has filed a motion to join a suit in which it is an interested party.

“There are no court processes with Valentine Ozigbo’s name on them.
“It is common knowledge that the plaintiffs in the said case have also sued Mr. Valentine Ozigbo and his party, PDP, to court on several subject matters.”

Ozigbo noted that going to court to seek for redress on any perceived violation of one’s right is constitutionally guaranteed and globally accepted in a democratic setting.

Two individuals said to be members of the PDP, Adindu Valentine and Egwudike Chukwuebuka had filed a suit at Abuja Federal High Court challenging the qualification of the Governor-elect, Prof Soludo and his Deputy Governor-elect, Onyeka Ibezim, for the November 6 governorship election, but was dismissed by Justice Taiwo Taiwo who said it lacked merit and was therefore a waste of judicial time.

Ozigbo urged members of the public to disregard any information linking him with any court action on the election.
