Nigeria international Victor Osimhen was in action for 80 minutes and fired blanks on Thursday evening at the Camp Nou in Napoli’s 1-1 draw against Barcelona in the Europa League round of 16 first leg tie between both sides.
Piotr Zielinski scored the opening goal of the match in the 29th minute while former Manchester City forward Ferran Torres equalised from the penalty spot in the second half for Xavi’s team.
Osimhen was unable to add to his four goals in the competition this season. He has scored 10 goals in all competitions so far.
Osimhen sustained a minor injury in the game but continued after medics attended to him. His substitution was ostensibly precautionary.
The other Europa League game on the evening involving Nigerian players was the 4-2 win of Glasgow Rangers over Borussia Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park as pictured above.
Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst named Super Eagles Players Joe Aribo in the middle of the park and Calvin Bassey as a central defender.
Aribo assisted Rangers’ foutyh goal scored by Alfredo Morelos whose deflected strike on the 54th minute all but secured victory for the Gers.
Former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey replaced Aribo while Bassey played for all 90 minutes. Leon Balogun did not pass the late fitness test ahead of the Europa League ties.
