Optimism Or Trouble At The Bridge: Can Chelsea Reflect Chukwuemeka’s Confidence Or Would Stars Seek New Homes?

Chelsea midfielder, Carney Chukwuemeka recently granted an interview to Sky Sports and reiterated the confidence that the FIFA Club World Cup holders will bounce back from the current slump it finds itself when the expensively assembled new players integrate properly.

The London side are currently in ninth place in the Premier League table on 30 points, one place above a stuttering Liverpool.

The Super Eagles-eligible star has made nine appearances in all competitions since joining the club which includes an FA Cup game.

Chukwuemeka who joined from Aston Villa spoke with Sky Sports on his expectations of the team going forward.

“We have a lot of new players and I am sure that in time, we will know each others’ game naturally.

“Since my arrival at the club, it had been weeks of training, getting to know the club and the players.

“Thank God I made my debut eventually,” Chukwuemeka reiterated.

The Anglo-Nigerian admitted that it was a dream come true to be a Chelsea player, something most aspiring players hoped for.

“It’s a dream come true. Any young boy wants to play in the Premier League and it’s one of the best clubs in the world. I’m blessed,” the 19-year-old youngster who turns 20 in October this year further told Sky Sports.

One major factor in determining if the team would turn the corner is the star players’ fulfillment at the club.

Enzo Fernandez leads the cast of the many stars to have arrived Stamford Bridge but are bound to demand for starting places sooner or later.

The club owners went on a spending spree in the last two transfer windows and brought in several players in excess of a billion pounds.

The jury is out on how they will perform after the much expected bedding-in period, but it is conceivable that some of the players would agitate for new lease on life should manager Graham Potter, or indeed any ‘world class’ manager/head coach that replaced him in the summer.

The Todd Boehly hurricane is sweeping through world football and the club could bring out the cash book again in the summer.

However, the hierarchy at the club are definitely mindful of the issues that Manchester City (and Juventus in the Serie A) are currently facing as regard financial dealings.

Chelsea’s next league game is against West Ham United. The kick off is 1.30pm on Saturday afternoon.
