Onitsha Business School Names Research Centre After Ozigbo

The Onitsha Business School, has honoured Valentine Ozigbo, PDP candidate in the November 2021 Anambra Governorship election.

The institution during its 7th Vision Anniversary/ Graduation Ceremony on Friday, named its research centre after Ozigbo for his contribution to enterprise and business development in Nigeria.
Appreciating the honour, Ozigbo who wrote on his Facebook wall, thanked the founder of the school, Professor Olusegun Sogbesan for considering him worthy of such high honour. “I do not take this recognition for granted,” Ozigbo wrote.

He said, “I am fascinated by this honour because Onitsha is seen as the epicentre of business in West Africa. Onitsha is also home to the biggest market in Nigeria, so the location of this business school is perfect.”

Professor Sogbesan who is also chairman of the governing council of the school said Ozigbo was chosen for the honour because of his enviable success in the Nigerian business landscape and his robust support for the business school.

While describing his commitment to entrepreneurship and business development, Ozigbo said he has co-authored a book titled, ‘Igba-Boi – Repositioning the Igbo Apprenticeship System’ with an Associate Professor at the Lagos Business School, Prof Ogechi Adeola of Pan-African University.
He said the book “is a business research book that examines how we can build a better ecosystem to improve the scheme.”

The award winning global CEO who announced that the book will be launched soon, indicated that he will partner with the Onitsha Business School on that project, adding that he is delighted to have Professor Sogbesan serve as Chairman of the planning committee for the event.

“Throughout my life, I have lived by the principles of compassion, community, and continuous improvement. These are the principles that can be applied in developing and upscaling the Igba-Boi system, and with this, Ndi Igbo and Nigerians will overtake many countries.

“I look forward to robust academic programmes and discoveries advancing the business landscape in Anambra, Nigeria, and Africa at the Valentine Ozigbo Research Centre.

“I firmly believe in rewriting our story, and to achieve this, we have to raise our collective consciousness,” Ozigbo further stated.

He also congratulated the graduands of the school, including Ichie Sunday Ezeobiora, the Chairman of Sunchi Farms, who he described as “one of West Africa’s most successful agribusinessmen.”
