NPFL: Angry Katsina United Fans Mob Enugu Rangers Team Bus, Threaten To Attack ‘Flying Antelope’

Angry fans of Katsina United on Sunday evening held Enugu Rangers team hostage after the Flying Antelopes defeated Katsina United 2-1 in their matchday 1 fixture of the Nigeria Professional Football League (Npfl).

Rangers defeated Katsina United 2-1 in their home ground, Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina city on Sunday to start their 2021-2022 league campaign on a promising note.

However, after the final whistle, the irate fans blocked the stadium gates and insisted that Rangers would not leave the stadium

The Flying Antelopes confirmed the situation on their official Facebook page.

“We are being held hostage here by irate fans after our win in Katsina,” Rangers said.

An inside source in Rangers who spoke to reporters from Katsina confimed that the club was “held hostage for over 20 minutes” after the match.

The source noted that the angry fans registered their anger over the defeat handed down to their team and threatened to attack the team.

The source who craved confidentiality said that immediately after the final whistle, Rangers players and management were asked by LMC official not to leave the dressing room.

However, when the club left the room after some minutes, some fans who refused to leave the stadium waiting for Rangers, overpowered the security at the gate and surrounded Rangers team bus.

The source added however that nobody was harmed or injured.
