Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated his commitment to ensuring free, fair and credible elections in 2023, stating that no winner will be denied victory irrespective of political party to which they belonged.
The president made this known on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, during flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign in Jos, Plateau State.

According to a statement by the Senior Special assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, Buhari joined a crowd of party members and supporters at the Jos township stadium in endorsing the Tinubu-Shettima presidential ticket for the 2023 contest.
Buhari charged party members to work hard to deliver the candidates during the next year polls.
The President at a visit to the Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba said every vote must count, adding “No election winner will be denied his mandate, irrespective of the party to which they belonged.”
Shehu said this was apparently in response to the Campaign Director-General, Governor Simon Lalong who announced the intention of the party’s campaign team to recreate the Moshood Abiola historic victory under the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in 1993, in a campaign that took off in the same city 30 years ago. That election victory was annulled by the military.
Buhari gave the APC flag to the presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying that the country needed a man like him to steer the course of leadership.
The president urged the party faithful to campaign on issues and the abilities of Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima.
The President reiterated his earlier assurances that he will be at the forefront of the campaign because of his belief in the party.
The nation’s number one citizen said it is only the APC that can steer Nigeria to fulfill its historic purpose, adding that working together with the leadership of the party, the campaign council, and its teeming supporters, the goal will be achieved.
Chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu led other party stalwarts, including Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to call on Nigerians to vote for the APC ticket insisting that it is the surest way to prosperity for the country.
