No African Will Require Visa To Enter Kenya From 2024 – President Ruto

Kenyan President, William Ruto has disclosed that starting from next year, visa requirements will be waived for African nationals planning to visit his country, predicating this on the need to enhance trade relations with fellow African countries.

He announced this significant development for travelers on Saturday during his keynote address at the Three Basins Climate Change Conference in Brazzaville, the capital of the Republic of the Congo. The basins are the Amazon, Congo, and Borneo-Mekong Forest.

Ruto also highlighted the need to address the current low levels of intra-African trade and proposed a reduction in customs tariffs across the continent to expedite the realization of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

According to him, “It is time we realize the importance of trading among ourselves and allowing goods, services, people, and ideas to move freely across the continent”.

The President pointed out that trade among East African Community countries had grown significantly due to the removal of visa requirements and tariffs.
