Nnamdi Kanu Never Goaded Youths To Cause Crisis In Nigeria, Says Lawyer

MEMBER of Nnamdi Kanu’s legal team, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor has declared that his client, the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) never told youths to cause violence and destroy Nigeria.

Ejimakor issued a disclaimer through his Twitter handle in reaction to certain messages circulating on social media platforms which states that Kanu who is in the custody of Department of State Services, purportedly gave such order to the youths.
The message which Ejimakor claimed to have received several times, read:

“Destroy Nigeria when I’m no longer there, my death can’t stop Biafra. I’m just one person out of millions of Biafrans – Nnamdi Kanu urges youths from DSS custody.
“I’ve been starved for three weeks, beaten and electrocuted, yet the more they torture me, the more my spirit gets high. I will die anyway, but Biafra will come.
“The good news of Biafra must be preached anytime, anywhere, without fear or favour.
“I’m here because of Biafra, I’m suffering here because of you. Don’t fail me, don’t disappoint me because, in the end, Biafra will come.”

Ejimakor in his disclaimer stated that several persons have sent him the message to confirm whether it is true, which he responded by saying, “It’s NOT TRUE.”

He added that he has met with the leader “several times and he NEVER uttered such words. Please be guided. Thank you,” Ejimakor tweeted.
This was part of effort to counter the narrative by those blaming the IPOB leader of encouraging youths to cause violence in the country.

Kanu has been in the custody of DSS since June 27 when he was arrested in Kenya and repatriated to Nigeria in an obscure manner by Nigerian security operatives in collaboration international security partners.

He was billed to appear in court on July 27 for trial, but DSS failed to bring him to court citing logistics challenges. The case was adjourned to October 21..
