The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been drawn in Group A of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations group qualifiers which kicks off in June 2022 with Sierra Leone, Guinea-Bissau and either Sao Tome and Principe or Mauritania reports Prime Business Africa.
Sao Tome and Principe or Mauritania will await the decision of CAF on their eligibility to decide who makes the cut into the group stage.
A total of 48 teams were drawn in 12 groups of 4 teams each afterctje first round of qualification was concluded in March 2022.
The winners of the tournament in 1980, 1994 and 2013, Nigeria joined 11 other teams which included Algeria, Morocco, Cote d’Ivoire, Senegal, Egypt, Senegal, Tunisia, Mali, DR Congo, Ghana and Cameroon to be seeded in Pot 1 as the best ranked teams on the African continent.
The Matchdays 1 and 2 of the 2023 AFCON will hold between May 30 and June 14.
