Nigerians Tired Of MTN, Glo, Airtel, Can Now Order For Elon Musk’s Internet Service, Starlink

The internet company, Starlink, owned by billionaire, Elon Musk, can now be booked by Nigerians, as the network provider is now available in 32 countries around the world.

Countries are now placed under three categories, “Available”, “Wait list” and “Coming soon”, according to checks by Prime Business Africa, which means Starlink is yet to serve the 5% global population is aims to offer internet service to.

With Nigeria under the Wait list category, based on Abuja region, Nigerians can order ahead to beat future inflation or further depreciation of naira when Starlink’s internet becomes available in the country.

According to a statement on Starlink website, it would be available in the second half of 2022, which starts from July, offering more options to internet users, beyond the likes of MTN Nigeria, Glo, Airtel, 9mobile, Spectranet and others.

Although the firm had stated that, “Availability is subject to regulatory approval.” Starlink representatives came to Nigeria in May last year to meet with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), and Musk announced last week, that the Nigerian government has approved its operation.

To order the Starlink in Nigeria, it cost $99, and according to a statement obtained from the firm’s website, “Within each coverage area, orders are fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis.”

However, it was gathered that “Placing a deposit does not guarantee service”, which makes the deposit refundable. Currently, there are 69,000 active Starlink users in the United States and other selected locations.
