Nigerian Stock Market’s Total Investment Value Rises By N517 billion

Following hours of trading, the total investment in the Nigerian stock market rose by N517 billion on Friday, representing 2.03 per cent growth in the market capitalisation.

Data obtained from the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) disclosed the 2.03 per cent lifted the market capitalisation from Thursday’s N25.384 trillion to N25.90 trillion. 

The bulls’ control of the stock market pushed the All-Share Index up by 949.4 basis points from 46,604.94 ASI to 47,554.34 ASI.

On the trading floor, 98.98 million shares exchanged investors’ hands in 2,780 deals. The total value of shares traded by investors is N5.52 billion, 

Top five gainers

Redstar Express share appreciated by N0.20kobo to rise from N2.07 to N2.27kobo per share.  

Regal Insurance grew by 8.70 per cent, up from N0.23kobo to N0.25kobo per share.  

Livestock ended trading with N1.06 from N0.98kobo per share, rising by 8.16 per cent. 

Livestock gained 7.50 per cent to end trading at N0.43kobo, having opened with N0.40kobo. 

Airtel Africa stock was up by N100 closing with N1450 from N1350 per share. 

Top five losers

Capital Hotel depreciated by N0.34kobo, dwindling from N3.40kobo to N3.06 per share.  

Nestle also fell by N107.10kobo to end trading at N963.90kobo, after opening with N1071 per share.  

International Breweries followed the same path, losing N0.10kobo after trading hours, to sell at N4.30kobo from N4.40kobo per share.  

GTCO reported a decline of N0.30kobo from previous day’s share price of N20.30kobo to end trading at N20 per share. 

Wema Bank share depreciated to N3.07 from N3.10kobo, after losing 0.97 per cent during trading hours.

Top five trading equities in stock exchange

FCMB reported 16.84 million shares valued at N54.75 million were traded on its floor.  

MTN Nigeria recorded 16.41 million shares valued at N3.29 billion.  

Fidelity Bank saw investors trade 7.53 million of its shares valued at N30.89 million.  

Zenith Bank recorded 6.39 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N139.37 million.  

Access Corp reported 5.81 million shares valued at N49.73 million exchanged investors’ hands.
