Nigerian Stock Market Investors Pocket N154.29bn, As Thomas Wyatt, Others Record Gain

On Wednesday, the market capitalisation of the Nigerian stock exchange increased by 0.55 per cent or N154.29 billion to N28.17 trillion, from N28.02 trillion.

The growth in market capitalisation followed the 283.27 basis points gained by the All Share Index on Wednesday, which lifted the ASI from 51,446.6 to 51,729.87 ASI.

On the exchange floor, 281.94 million shares, worth N8.15 billion, were traded in 3,679 deals on Wednesday.

The value of trade fell below the N8.29 billion exchanged for 345.49 million shares on Tuesday in 4,184 deals.

Top five gainers

Thomas Wyatt share appreciated by N0.11kobo to rise from N1.16kobo to N1.27kobo per share 

Champion Brew grew by N0.41kobo, up from N4.34kobo to N4.75kobo per share 

FTN Cocoa ended trading with N0.28kobo from N0.26kobo per share, rising by 7.69 per cent. 

Mutual Benefit gained 6.67 per cent to end trading at N0.32kobo, having opened with N0.30kobo per share. 

Courtville stock was up by 6.52 per cent, closing with N0.49kobo from N0.46kobo per share 

Top five losers

Chellaram depreciated by N0.18kobo, dwindling from N1.82kobo to N1.64kobo per share. 

Royal Exchange also fell by 7.41 per cent to end trading at N1, after opening with N1.08 per share. 

Wapic followed the same path, losing 6.67 per cent after trading hours, to sell at N0.42kobo from N0.45kobo per share.   

Mansard reported a decline of N0.14kobo from the previous day’s share price of N2.14kobo to end trading at N2 per share.  

RT Briscoe share depreciated to N0.27kobo from N0.28kobo, after losing 3.57 per cent during trading hours. 

Top five trading equities in stock exchange

FBN Holdings reported 108.92 million shares valued at N1.22 billion were traded on its floor   

BUA Cement recorded 42.39 million shares valued at N4.07 billion

GTCO saw investors trade 33.98 million of its shares valued at N810.04 million 

Access Corp recorded 13.47 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N122.60 million  

Transcorp reported 13.41 million shares valued at N16.04 million exchanged investors’ hands
