Nigerian Military Declares 8 Wanted Over Killing Of 17 Soldiers In Delta

The Nigerian Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has declared eight persons wanted over their alleged roles in the killing of 17 military personnel in Delta State recently.

DHQ released a list of the wanted persons and their photos during a briefing in Abuja on Thursday.

This comes hours after the military buried the 17 soldiers in a ceremony attended by President Bola Tinubu, governors, federal lawmakers, and other dignitaries in Abuja.

According to the list, those declared wanted are Prof. Ekpekpo Arthur, Andaowei Dennis Bakriri, Akevwru Daniel Omotegbo (Aka Amagben), Akata Malawa David, Sinclear Oliki, Clement Ikolo Oghenerukeywe, Reuben Baru, and Igoli Ebi.

 

Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defense Media Operations, urged Nigerians, particularly those living in Delta and neighboring states, to provide the military with reliable information that could result in the arrest of eight people who are accused of killing seventeen soldiers in the Okuama community in Delta State.

General Buba reiterated the military’s resolve to find and apprehend those responsible for the horrific incident in Delta State and pledged to free all victims who have been kidnapped or kidnapped in Nigeria.

 

Tinubu had at the burial of the soldiers, promised to support their families, announcing scholarships for children of the slain soldiers including those in the womb.

He also conferred national honours awards on the deceased soldiers.

The killing of the soldiers in Okuama community of Delta State has drawn outrage across the country with many condemning the heinous act.

The military had been combing the area, making frantic efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and recovery of weapons said to have been carted away by the criminals after killing the soldiers.
