Nigeria players Kelechi Iheanacho, Samuel Chukwueze, William Troost Ekong, Taiwo Awoniyi and Frank Onyeka were on the losing sides Saturday for their respective European clubs.

Kelechi Iheanacho was a starter in Leicester City’s 2-0 defeat to a resurgent Arsenal side at the King Power Stadium. However teammate Wilfred Ndidi was only on the substitute bench following his comeback from injury.

Samuel Chukwueze who is yet to start a game for Villarreal came off the substitute bench in place of Dani Parejo in the Yellow Submarine’s 2-0 away defeat to Valencia at the Estadio de Mestalla on Saturday night.

Chukwueze, 22-year-old, has made four league appearances since his return from the injury setback. Hugo Guillamon and Carlos Soler were on target for Valencia in the game.

Super Eagles vice captain William Troost-Ekong was in action for Watford on Saturday in their 1-0 defeat to Southampton no thanks to a Che Adams’ goal. Emmanuel Dennis did not feature due to suspension.

At Turf Moor, defensive midfielder Frank Onyeka played for 58 minutes in Brentford 3-1 defeat to Burnley.

However it was good news for Ola Aina who was on the winning side in Torino’s emphatic 3-0 win over Sampdoria.

Aina was making his 10th Serie A game of the season in the game.
