Nigeria Likely To Face Brazil, Spain, Japan In Women’s Football Tournament Of 2024 Olympics

Nigeria’s Super Falcons will play in the same group of the women’s football tournament of the 2024 Olympics Games with Spain, Japan and Brazil if they get past South Africa in the qualifying play offs.

Both continental rivals will face off on April 5th and 9th for a place in the Olympics.

The draws for the Men’s and Women’s football events were held at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich with Nigeria or South Africa confirmed to be in Group C with Spain, Brazil and Japan the likely opponents.

Africa’s second representatives are expected to play against USA, Germany and Australia in Group B with the other nations already seeded.

The Group A contains hosts France, Canada and New Zealand.

For the men’s football tournament of the Games, Nigeria’s U23 team will not take part in the ancient games after losing out to the Junior Syli national of Guinea in the qualifier.

Izuchukwu Okosi

Izuchukwu Okosi is a Nigerian sports and entertainment journalist with two decades of experience in the media industry having begun his media journey in 2002 as an intern at Mundial Sports International (MSI) and Africa Independent Television (AIT), owners of Daar Communications Plc. Okosi is a member of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Association of Movie Producers (AMP), Association of Voiceover Artistes of Nigeria (AVOA), Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) and Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ). He has been part of cast in some Nollywood movies and radio dramas including Blood Money 2, Scores To Settle, Dead End 2, Another Campus Tale and Battle Line. Aside mainstream media and the entertainment industry, he has interests in scouting/unearthing of talents in the sports and creative sectors, exports business and property development.
