Niger Republic Denies Receiving N1.14 billion Vehicles From Nigerian Government

Niger Republic’s Minister of Defence, Alkassoum Indatou, said his country didn’t receive 10 vehicles from the Nigerian government as claimed by the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed.

Ahmed had stated that President Muhammadu Buhari donated the vehicles worth N1.14 billion to Nigeria Republic after investigative journalist, David Hundeyin, revealed the document containing the donation.

The Minister of Finance said President Buhari made the donation on his prerogative, and has the right to make the approval. Ahmed said the donation will also benefit Nigeria in terms of security.

However, Indatou said the only vehicle donated to Niger Republic was made by Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle. The Nigerian governor gave Maradi Community in Niger Republic 5 Hilux vans, This Day reported.

Indatou said no vehicle was received from the Federal Government, “It is only the State of Zamfara which has given five vehicles to the Maradi region, four of which have already been received, it is not the federal government as the Minister of Finance of Nigeria Zainab Ahmed declared.”

Explaining the reason Zamfara government donated to the country, Indatou said, “The population of Zamfara who are on the border with Niger call more on the Nigerien soldiers who respond to the minute than even those of their own country.” he added.
