The leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation is expected to announce the new coaches for the Super Eagles as well as other football national teams like the Home-based Super Eagles side (CHAN), Flying Eagles and the Golden Eaglets, reports Prime Business Africa.
The coaching crew of the Super Eagles were relieved of their duties in the aftermath of the team’s failure to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World in Qatar and other national teams particularly the Flying Eagles will be involved in tournaments in the coming weeks.
The NFF released a communique to this effect on Tuesday after the Executive board’s meeting in Abuja.
The communiquereads thus:
“The Executive Committee mandated its Technical and Development Sub-Committee to, within the next 5 days, make recommendations to the Executive Committee on coaching crews for the Super Eagles, the CHAN team, the U20 Boys (Flying Eagles) and the U17 Boys (Golden Eaglets) ahead of upcoming assignments.
“This is to ensure preparations for the next qualifying tournaments and championships commence in earnest,” the terse statement from the football house stressed.
There has been conflict of interests from the NFF and the Sports Ministry over the job of the next Super Eagles head coach with the Sports minister reportedly keen to have an indigenous coach take up the saddle while the Nigeria Football Federation prefer a foreign coach after the Austin Eguavoen-led crew failed to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
