NFF Keen On Paying Peseiro’s Super Eagles Salaries

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is working assiduously to offset the outstanding six months salaries of Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro.

The Portuguese left his previous job as the Venezuela head coach after he was owed for a period of one year in 2021.
According to FIFA rules, a coach owed upwards of six months by their employers can leave his job without any consequences and the Federation will be required to pay the full amount due under existing FIFA regulations.
Six months after his hiring, Peseiro has not received a single wage check from the NFF but has always hinted that his objective is to win the next Africa Cup of Nations.
After one year without salary, the 62-year-old left his position as Venezuela’s coach in 2021.
The Portuguese can unilaterally end his contract, without consequence, and will be required to pay the full amount due under existing FIFA regulations.
In order to prevent that from happening, the NFF is now making every effort, and this week, they hope to pay the former Saudi Arabia coach.
Peseiro’s agent spoke to the BBC Sport Africa: “we’ve heard that he only received his allowances and incentives, which is very troubling,” a senior NFF official told the news giants.
“Although the Sports Ministry is responsible for paying his salary, we have rapidly worked out a different plan to arrange for this week’s salary payments in cooperation with the Ministry,” the agents furher stated.
The Nigeria Football Federation are still paying the monies owed former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr who was sacked before the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations held in Cameroon early this year.
The new board of the Nigeria Football Federation was inaugurated after the September 30 election in Benin City, Edo State with Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau elected as the new NFF boss to replace Amaju Pinnick.
